Have you ever felt like you are a nobody ? From time to time you may very well feel like you are a nobody.
I want to tell you, you are “SOMEBODY”. A very important person. A person highly valued, highly prized, needed, wanted. Your achievements have not gone unnoticed by the God who sees and knows everything and even if some humans don’t communicate your worth to you. You are of great worth.
I truly believe so.
My story will be different to yours, and yours will be different to mine, but nevertheless our story is “our” story and it is what makes you - “YOU”.
I hate the fact that some feel lesser than others, usually because others have made you feel that way.
It is not the right way to live and whilst we may feel we may have, could have, achieved a whole lot more than what we have, our contribution to the world is of great worth, and especially to God who loves you and I, with a love so deep and so wide that we will never be able to fully comprehend that.
That makes you a very important somebody.
Your worth is not determined by another human…. Yet, very often that is what we all feel.
I want to challenge that, I want to challenge it in my own life, and I am reminded by some wise words of my father in law when he was such a huge influence in my life.
When people have hurt you, as they often do….either by harsh words and actions aimed at you, or by a sense of everything you have done is of no worth or value…it is then that the words of Brian Golding come….”don't look back….”
It is enhanced by the thought…don’t look backwards you are not going in that direction.
And it is back there where often the “nobody” thought comes from. Feeling unappreciated, feeling that all you have done was a waste of time, it didn't change anything or help anyone.
Simply, that stuff is not true. We need to find our worth and value in our God who knows everything we have done and celebrates us with a never ending love.
So what do you do when you feel unappreciated ? A nobody ?
That is the very big question.
I think it is helpful to keep a journal …..for your own memory (maybe) to remind yourself of the things you have achieved…. And even if no one ever notices it, or applauds you for it, you can recall it and remember the impact you had in the situation and possibly in another persons life.
And remind yourself that God knows what you did and why you did it and that it counts as something…not “nothing”.
If I can say, and if you would bother to take to heart the words I type here… “you”….yes “YOU”, are so important - a very big “somebody” God loves you so very much, so that even before you knew who He was He would set a plan in motion to get you into heaven.
So the next time you feel low…. You feel like your life hasn’t counted for much….remember if you can that every step you have taken up until now is setting your life up for big things still to come.
Even by bothering to read this blog….every step counts on the journey that is life…and none of us have yet arrived. There is still much to be done, and YOU are needed as part of the divine plan that God has set up just for you.
Finally…. I received a call this week to minister (have a chat) to a family from my last work place, who had specifically asked me to speak with family around some delicate matters.
This is my life…this is my calling…..this is what makes me of worth to the Lord of my life. And it is what makes you worthy and of great significance also.
When we make ourselves available ….we are destined to be a big somebody in the greater scheme of things and for others.
Bless you….
Thanks for taking a moment to read my thoughts on life. And on yourself and myself.
And for my ministry friends who have either retired or stepped away….what you did for God counts hugely in the kingdom equation. Please do not ever forget that what you did for God was never ever wasted. Bless you today
